Honeymoon Studios is a Naarm/Melbourne-based occasional wear brand created as an alternative to the traditional wedding scene. If you’re seeking a more relaxed, unconventional approach to bridal wear, Honeymoon Studios is the right place for you. There are no rules, just a focus on having a good time. Honeymoon Studios prioritises re-wearability, encouraging lovers to customise their looks or even dye them to breathe new life into their favourite pieces.
Tell us about Honeymoon Studios!
Whether it’s a backyard celebration, a quickie at the registry office, or a long lunch with friends, Honeymoon offers a fresh take on bridal for those who want a look that reflects their personal style. Rules like “you can’t wear black to a wedding” fly out the window and re-wearability is a top priority. Honeymoon styles are perfect for lovers who might spill some wine, dance their dress to filth, or sneak a cheeky cig in their veil – it’s all about having fun and embracing the messy side of love.
What would you like couples to know about you?
We want couples to know that we’re all about offering a fresh, untraditional take on bridal wear- one that feels relaxed and fun. Honeymoon was born after our founder, Andria, went through the struggle of finding her own wedding look. She wanted something laid-back, modern, and true to herself, but kept running into the same old options. That’s when she saw a gap in the market for pieces that speak to brides who value individuality and authenticity over convention. Every piece we create is hand-cut and sewn right here in our studio in Naarm/Melbourne, with sustainability at the heart of everything we do- whether it’s using leftover fabric for accessories or offering dyeing services so you can keep wearing your favourite piece long after the wedding.
Where is your boutique based?
Our studio, The Honeymoon Suite, is based on High Street in Northcote. We have so much fun hosting our future brides with bubbles, a curated playlist, and plenty of time to try their favourite looks. Honeymoon styles are exclusively available at our studio, online, or at our interstate pop-ups.
Tell us about your newest collection!
The Garden of Eternal Love, launching in December 2024, is an exciting continuation of our Honeymoon collections, where we feature our favourite daisy motif while introducing a new element to our lineup: the Rosette. The daisy, a beloved staple in our designs, takes centre stage once again, intricately placed across necklines, straps, and seams.
Meanwhile, the rosette- designed by Andria herself- is crafted from a textured 2D embroidered tulle and bias-cut chiffon, used throughout both beloved and new silhouettes to add exaggerated volume and texture. This release is all about blending nostalgic looks from the '90s with our signature '70s aesthetic. Expect to see strapless silhouettes, boleros, godet lines, and cummerbunds that embody the playful and relaxed spirit of Honeymoon.
How would you describe your brands style?
Our brand's style is a curated blend of influences from past decades, evading the traps of fleeting trends. It captures a cool, messy romance- never tacky focusing on easy-to-wear pieces designed for everybody. Inclusivity is key, ensuring everyone feels authentically themselves.
Tell us about your favourite dress!
One of our all-time favourites from the core collection is the Alma Daisy, loved by so many of our Honeymoon brides. However, the standout piece from our new collection is definitely the Amanda Slip Dress. Inspired by the iconic 90s runway looks, it features soft draping and delicate appliqué rosettes that gently accentuate the wearer's silhouette, creating a look that is both effortlessly chic and beautifully flattering.
Where are your gowns made?
All Honeymoon pieces are thoughtfully designed in our Northcote Studio and made in-house with our skilled makers right here in Naarm/Melbourne.
What is a favourite product or service that you offer and why?
Our favourite service is the Honeymoon Suite try-ons. It’s such a fun opportunity to connect with our Honeymoon brides while sipping champagne and playing dress-up. This experience allows brides to explore different looks, which not only helps them find what works for their bodies but also inspires us for future designs. Hearing their feedback and seeing how each piece fits uniquely is invaluable.
What inspired your latest collection?
The inspiration for our latest collection stems from Andria’s admiration for iconic brides from decades past- think Cher and Kate Moss- combined with her hands-on experience during fittings. This direct engagement allows her to identify what works and what doesn’t, enabling adjustments based on what brides are truly seeking. All of this is done while staying true to the Honeymoon aesthetic. Our primary focus is on satisfying our customers rather than chasing fleeting trends.
Who is your dream client?
Our dream client is a fun, casual, and cool babe who is excited to embrace the wedding process. Someone who has an effortless style and playful spirit. They perfectly capture the essence we envision for our Honeymoon lovers.
What is your advice to couples getting married?
Just relax and have fun!
