Tell us about your business!

I naturally see life in frames. What made me fall in love with photography was the art of portraying people, emotions and relationships. That’s why wedding photography is the perfect fit for me – because it’s about capturing human connection, love and joy.

What would you like couples to know about Alex Jack Photography?

Connection is the defining element of my images. It’s an honour to witness and capture intimate, cherished moments. I want to document the significance of the wedding and what it represents for the couple, their families and friends. I want the couple to feel like they can truly be themselves, so I can document the connection between the couple and their loved ones, in a way that will allow my photos to forever transport them back to that moment in time.

Where are you based?

Newcastle NSW, but I’m available worldwide.

Do you travel for weddings?

Yes! I absolutely love traveling for weddings. Almost every weekend I get to see a new place I’ve never been to before. I love the inspiration that comes from that.

How would you describe your style?

I use a documentary style of photography with an editorial approach and true-to-tone film style editing. I’m inspired by light, colour and the natural world around us.

What is your most memorable career moment?

My latest milestone was recently being featured in Vogue and also capturing a beautiful wedding in Italy.

What inspires you?

I take away something from every wedding I photograph, that will stay with me forever. My favourite weddings are those where couples are intentional about how they create their day and how it can be unique to them.

What motivates you to do what you do?

Ever since discovering photography at a young age, I have loved using my camera to capture anything that has brought me joy. I take inspiration from art and popular culture - whether that be from black and white film photos, movies or music - and I mix that with my constant curiosity for capturing love through images. My obsession with the craft, combined with a deep passion for creating images that will be cherished by future generations, is what keeps me passionate about what I do.

How would you describe your working style?

I believe that the couple’s day should be documented as it unfolds naturally and my goal is to create a relaxed environment for people to be themselves and enjoy their celebration. I focus on catching the in-between moments – a sneaky kiss, a sideways glance or an excited reaction. I hone in on the small details in creative ways, while also stepping back to incorporate the stunning landscapes and architecture that set the scene.

Do you shoot digitally, on film or both?

Yes, I do both! There’s something so special about film and I love incorporating it into my work as much as possible.

Do you have custom packages according to individual needs?

Yes! I’m more than happy to customise packages to my couples needs.

What is a favourite product or service that you offer and why?

Again, there is just something so incredibly special about film. It’s timeless and permanent. It’s imperfect and candid in a way that can not quite be achieved with digital. Film unintentionally creates surprisingly beautiful works of art. This is why I offer film to my couples.

Where would you love to travel to for work?

I love photographing weddings overseas! It’s a dream to photograph a wedding in New York.

Who is your dream client?

I love it when couples find a way to express their true style, personalities and quirks. I think It’s magical when a couple lets their love for each other radiate through the moments of the day.

What is your advice to couples getting married?

I think it’s important to book vendors who you trust and value the work of. I think when you do this, it allows you to sit back and soak up as much as possible on the day.
