Tell us about your business!
Born out of a desire to bring creativity and passion into our work lives, Bulb Creative encapsulates our love for photographing weddings in a documentary yet elegant way. We are inspired by editorial style frames that blend fashion, emotion and timeless romance.
What would you like couples to know about you?
We are a husband and wife team who started this passion project after we both felt discontent in our careers. Both being creatives at heart, we took the leap of faith to start shooting weddings and fell in love with it. We have been shooting weddings, elopements and editorials since 2015 and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Over the years we have been blessed with travels abroad, meeting new faces, and exploring styles and trends that inspire us.

On the sunny Gold Coast, Australia.
Do you travel for weddings?
We love exploring new places and have traveled all over the globe for weddings in the past! We now primarily shoot locally or interstate (especially during these baby raising years) but are always open to travel throughout Australia and New Zealand.
How would you describe your style?
We are drawn to dreamy light, graceful details, soft tones, and poetic motion. We like to sparingly use flash photography throughout the day or night to bring a modern, yet nostalgic essence. We are lured to more minimalist and clean type backgrounds, using soft layering textures, architectural elements and playful light to bring interest to the frame.
Using our documentary approach fused with our love for editorial frames and timeless romance, we’ll effortlessly capture your day as it naturally unfolds.
What is your most memorable career moment?
Overlooking the cliffside ocean views of Lindos in Rhodes, Greece. We had just finished shooting our first European wedding. It was a beautiful “big fat Greek wedding” in every way possible, and was such a pinch me moment realising where we were standing at the end of the day and that we get to call this work.
What inspires you?
We love intricate and thoughtful details, whether it be tablescape choices, dress fabrics, floral arrangements, or intriguing light spilling in. The editorial meets documentary style of capturing things really inspires how we shoot the day. We do like to keep our finger on the pulse of trends- we don’t ever want to replicate something, but seeing the creative directions that weddings can take and witnessing our couples individual styles is always really fun and inspiring.
What motivates you to do what you do?
We love weddings! What other job in the world requires you to capture two people and their crew celebrating their love and commitment to each other while looking their best, creatively showcasing their style, stuffing their faces with good food, and dancing the night away?
How would you describe your working style?
We like to bring a calming, relaxed, yet professional atmosphere. We like to be unobtrusive, giving gentle direction where needed. It is important that you feel comfortable within yourselves and feel confident with whoever is taking photos.
Do you shoot digitally, on film or both?
We can shoot one or the other, or both! We love what both digital and film have to offer, so if one resonates with you more so than the other, then go with that feeling.
Do you have custom packages according to individual needs?
We are always happy to customise our packages to suit our couples needs. We have set packages based on what is popular, but it’s never an issue to adjust, change or add anything.
What is a favourite product or service that you offer and why?
We love to offer film photography to our services. There is just something so mysteriously nostalgic and fun about looking back on the day through film. Something digital just can’t replicate!
Where would you love to travel to for work?
Someday we would love to get to Italy. We actually had a bunch of weddings booked throughout Europe, including Italy, but then the pandemic changed everything! And then we started a family. We would love to make it there someday, and even bring our growing family along too.
Who is your dream client?
We absolutely love a fashion forward couple with attention and appreciation for details. Being playful with the styling and elements of the day makes our job so much fun. But ultimately, we love couples who are more caught up in the romance of the moment rather than everything else around them.
What is your advice to couples getting married?
Photos capture memories. So if you’re remembering the stress and the chaos - it will show. We absolutely love and appreciate attention to aesthetic details and a smooth running timesheet, but at the end of the day, if our couples are having the best time ever and trust us to capture their day - then that’s all that really matters.
