Tell us about Doxa Photography!

I am a film photographer in the Canadian prairies who specializes in a journalistic, documentary approach- infused with feeling and care. I create heirloom images that represent the heart of their subjects.

What would you like couples to know about you?

I love a handmade treasure- I seek art in other mediums such as ceramics, sewing, knitting.

Where are you based?

Saskatchewan- the Canadian prairies!

How would you describe your style?

Deeply personal. Infused with careful observation, and noticing. Unstructured,  journalistic approach.

What inspires you?

My garden, saying hello to the trees, bountiful meals from scratch, belly laughs with the people I love, noticing light, the smell of lilacs, drawing chalk with my kids, dancing freely, throwing clay, thrifting!

How would you describe your working style?

My work depends on a spot being saved for me at the table- figuratively and literally. I need to be welcomed in, as a guest, as a friend. Your vulnerability with who you are, will allow me to capture the heart of you and your love story. A laugh with the uncles, a cry with grandma, a cheers with the friends- being involved as a participant allows me to capture it from the point of view of connectedness.

Do you shoot digitally, on film or both?

Both!

Do you have custom packages according to individual needs?

Yes! My pricing depends on hours, and film coverage desires.

Where would you love to travel to for work?

Your backyard, your favourite restaurant-  wherever you are and feel fully alive and in love!

What is your advice to couples getting married?

Take risks in your design- and infuse heart and heritage and self into all of the little details. DIY is not lame. It is innovative, creative, sustainable, heartful- and those things will show! Stay connected above anything- and make intentions for radical presence on your day!
