Nicoletta Subitoni discovered her passion for photography at a young age. "More precisely from the day I went on a trip with my first camera and I discovered that with one click I could transform an instant into a memory. From that day on, I used my lens to collect details and make them history. I took courses, read books, bought cameras and lenses, studied the technique and practiced. Yet, what made me the photographer I am today was above all that moment many years ago when I realised that for me photography is memory. This is what I ask of myself every time I am behind the lens: to grasp the beauty in what I have in front of me with a sensitive gaze, to lock that precise moment in time." Nicoletta Subitoni is based in the North of Italy, not far from Milan and travels for her work. We recently sat with her to talk about her craft.
What motivates you to do what you do?
I do this job in order to evoke emotions, memories and to heal my nostalgic soul. I like paying attention to everything that surrounds me, always looking for a face, a nuance, a detail or a glimpse to make immortal. It gives me peace to think that with my work I can help people keep the memory of what
makes them who they are alive.
How would you describe your style?
Romantic and heavily inspired by art and fashion.
If you could describe yourself in 3 words, which ones to aim for?
Sensitive, nostalgic and perceptive.
What is your favourite travel destination?
Paris! I have been going there often lately, it is by far the place I love the most.
Who is the client of your dreams?
Someone elegant who loves my style, loves black and white and pastel tones and doesn't want to change anything about me.
What is the most memorable moment of your career?
When Photovogue published a photo of me as picture of the day
What inspires you?
Fashion, art exhibitions, my students who I teach at the university in Bologna, everyday life and suffering.
What would you like couples to know about your business?
That first of all mine is a passion before being a job, I always put my heart into it.
