Tell us a little about yourselves!
We met at work in the summer of 2014. A year into our friendship we started dating, and 6 years later Jeremy proposed under the string lights in our backyard. We’re from the Washington, DC area and love hosting friends, trying new restaurants, traveling, and hanging with our sweet-pup, Levi.
Why did you decide to get married where you did?
It was important for us to find a venue that could host all the wedding festivities and lodge most of our guests. When we found Antrim 1844, a historic inn just an hour outside Washington, DC, we knew we found our spot. The grounds were gorgeous and the rooms offered a unique stay for our guests. We loved that we had the option to rent the whole property so it would feel like our own private hotel.
How many guests did you have?
100.
Tell us about your outfits.
I wanted to wear something different, but still felt bridal. I tried on dresses at a local shop but nothing felt right. After hours of scouring the internet, I stumbled upon Monique Lhuiller's Bloom dress for sale second-hand. It was the perfect mix of whimsical and unexpected, while still feeling bridal. I took a chance and bought it without trying it on. When it arrived, it fit beautifully and exceeded all my expectations. I loved it so much I forgot to change into my second dress the day of the wedding! For Jeremy, we kept it simple and went with Vera Wang’s collection from Men’s Warehouse.
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
Maximizing quality time with our family and friends. We wanted to plan a day that felt calm, relaxed, and allowed us to be present. We intentionally skipped some of the wedding traditions that didn’t feel like us and prioritized picking a venue that could lodge most of the wedding. This allowed us to enjoy the company of family and friends with limited interruptions all weekend long.
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
Live music! There’s nothing quite like it, so we knew we needed to book a fabulous band. We hired The Bachelor Boys Band and they did not disappoint!
Any tips for couples getting married?
Ask yourself how you want to feel the day of your wedding and work backwards from there. Focus on the things that bring you joy instead of getting caught up in the details.
Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?
We’re incredibly grateful for all of our wonderful vendors but we especially want to thank our photographer, Kate Thompson Weddings. She was a joy to work with and made us feel calm and comfortable on our big day. And of course the photos turned out beautiful. She truly captured the emotions of the day!
