Real Wedding | Callie & Nick

Tell us a little about yourselves!

We are Callie and Nick and went from being friends to lovers. We love the beach, delicious food, cosy nights in, planning adventures together and our cocker spaniel Pearlie.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

Recently moving to Perth and knowing our family would be traveling over for our wedding from North Queensland and New South Wales, we wanted somewhere different our family members had not experienced before.  We also wanted a European and Tuscan feel for the wedding. The Swan Valley was full of vineyards and autumn tones and fit the brief!

Old Youngs was the first venue we visited and we decided there and then it was where we wanted to have our intimate wedding - the long table under the vines was a dream come true! We are also big foodies and Old Young’s is well known for their delicious food!

How many guests did you have?

13! We wanted our wedding day to be really full of love, to be intimate and truly reflect us. It was important for us to have time for each other on the day, really be present and to be able to soak it all in. Being able to connect with each guest and share the special moments was amazing.

What was your budget?

As we decided on keeping it a small wedding, we tried not to focus too much on a budget and really picked vendors and details that we loved. In saying this, we tried to keep costs manageable by deciding what was important for us to invest in.

Tell us about your outfits.

I saw a photo online of a lady wearing my ceremony dress and I fell in love. I searched and searched with no luck. Months later I came across a lady selling it online - brand new and in my size! I was so happy, it arrived and fit perfectly. It was truly meant to be.

I did really want a fun and different veil, so it did take me a long time to find and  decide on one. I’m still so obsessed with my veil and believe it’s very me. I’m so happy I found it all the way from Hera Couture in New Zealand.

My second dress just came along by chance. I was undecided if I would have a  second dress and if I did, I always thought it would be a mini. But I came across the beautiful L’idée dress on a website in my size and it was the last in stock! I couldn’t stop thinking about it, the frills matched my veil and it was such a fun dress, the perfect dress to  dance the night away in! I’m so glad I found two beautiful dresses that I could wear to our wedding, that both really captured my style. It really all worked out!

Nick went for a stunning classic and timeless suit. We loved the vibe of a shirt with black buttons and wanted a jacket with a bit of shine on it. We found the perfect one at Politix and after getting it tailored, it fit so perfectly. Wouldn’t be complete without some Ray-Bans of course of course some pearl cufflinks to match my earrings.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

We wanted our wedding to really represent us, to be relaxed, fun and magical. Centred around good food, drinks, music, laughter, vibes and flowers.

With myself (Callie) being a florist, the planning, designing of the styling elements and flowers were really important aspects for me to nail. We also wanted beautiful and timeless photographs that captured our day and told a story!

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

We wanted each guest to feel included in our special day, so we gave everyone their own part in the day. Also writing our own vows was super special to us and of course  incorporating lots of beautiful flowers and styling elements to make it feel magical.

Any tips for couples getting married?

Enjoy planning the day together and anything that brings any stress - drop it! Stick to a day you would truly enjoy and that represents you! You enjoying the day will radiate to every guest and will allow for good vibes to flow. If you have any doubts.. elope or have a micro wedding!

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Our celebrant Celebrations by Candice was no short of amazing. She really calmed any stress we had and delivered the most beautiful ceremony. She really took the time to get to know us and to write our story. Everyone there was either laughing or crying!

Kath Young, our photographer delivered our dream photos. They are absolutely amazing. From her calm energy on the day and being able to capture our story so beautifully. I couldn’t recommend her enough, she went above and beyond!

Old Youngs Kitchen - yum yum yum! From food, drinks and venue this place is such a vibe.  Annie organised our day with so much ease and was such a pleasure to work with.
