Tell us a little about yourselves!
Micheál and I met 11 years ago at the tender age of 17 working in a local supermarket and the rest is history. We have built a quiet life (and we wouldn’t have it any other way!) in the countryside of Northern Ireland with our two loving dogs Dallas and Luna.
Why did you decide to get married where you did?
Aside from the appeal of Pizza and Pasta, the charm of Rome is simply hard to beat. You can turn your head in any direction and be mesmerised by the historical architecture.
How many guests did you have?
Whittling it down was tough, it was either a hell yes or a no. We eventually settled on 36 of our nearest and dearest.
Tell us about your outfits.
I thankfully managed to avoid multiple bridal shop appointments- it was the first dress I tried on and I absolutely loved it. Micheál’s outfit was a take on a classic black suit made more relaxed with an open button white shirt, ankle grazer trousers and low top Dr Marten’s loafers.
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
We are very grateful to have had the help of our wedding planner and Design Sara Tusset. This took away the stress of planning. What I would say was important was making sure our wedding day authentically represented us as a couple, with little snippets of our personalities and styling preferences. Sara beautifully brought it all together for us.
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
Our relationship is 100% built on laughter. Most of the time we are playfully laughing at each other.
Our wedding day was no different, but we also wanted to take a step back, be vulnerable with each other in front of our friends and family.
Any tips for couples getting married?
We had an amazing venue, location and beautifully styled day which I wouldn't change but, the thing you will remember most about the day is the people you get to spend it with.
Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?
Honestly, they were all so fabulous!
Our photographer Elisa Rinaldi has given us beautifully timeless photographs we will cherish forever. Not only that but she introduced me to our planner Sara who I am eternally grateful for bringing everything together for us.
