Real Wedding | Mathilde & Olivier

Tell us a little about yourselves!

We are a French couple living in Lyon with our dog, Billie. Our friends and family are everything to us.

We try to celebrate as much as we can and live for the small gracious moments in life. Sun, wine and getting together with our favourite people!

We felt like our wedding was meant to be a getaway for us and everyone we love. We envisioned a simple and natural moment and party yet in a subtle and elegant  atmosphere. In France, we say we like to keep things casual but in an elegant way. So, for example, you drink Champagne but smoke cigarettes, stay in a beautiful Italian palace but grandma is in her PJ’s and our friends dress in suits but go wild, and are dancing half naked at the end of the party!

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

We wanted the wedding to be a trip away. A 3 day holiday for us to escape reality and daily obligations. Dolce Vita was the mood that fit our friends and family. Love, wine, simple food and nature were what was important to us.

Tenuta Di Monaciano is a little Italian Palace. It has this bucolic and nostalgic vibe.  We fell in love with statues covered with moss, the sun setting behind the vineyard and the history. We knew that the space would be self-sufficient. It was such a beautiful feeling to party and feel the love inside those walls and gardens.

How many guests did you have?

150!

What was your budget?

70 000 Euros.

Tell us about your outfits.

Olivier had his suit completely made from scratch. It was supposed to be a little loose fitting with a simple cut to highlight him and not drown him. Simple and elegant.

My dress had a ‘Madonna’ vibe with the long veil, the fold of fabrics and the close fitting cut to fit our Italian journey. But I wore my grandma’s shawl on top during the evening.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

It was always the vibe. We wanted people to feel good, to be able to feel the love, party and smile and forget everything else.

It was all about the view, the music, the wine. A moment out of time.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

My Grandma’s shawl for the evening.

Finding transportation so that everyone could come to Italy no matter their age. The wine. A good wine is keeping hearts warm and Champagne to keep the party happy!

It was important for us to be surrounded by nature.

Any tips for couples getting married?

The decoration is not what will make your wedding incredible. It’s the amount of love directed towards you during this day that makes you high. Spend time on creating a moment, not a painting! Aesthetic over decoration.

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Honestly, there are two vendors I carefully selected and that did a wonderful job.

Our gospel group for the church : Voices of Heavenn. The emotion through their voices, the fact that everyone was standing and clapping hands, crying or smiling during the ceremony.  Voices of Heaven is a caritative gospel group playing in Italian churches.  They have an amazing talent and their voices make you feel everything. Everyone speaks about them when speaking about our wedding.

Our Photographer - We Wedding Photography. We wanted someone able to make a photo reportage and not only take posed images. She made our wedding look like a story, a movie about a happy day.  She also used film and that was just the vibe.
