Real Wedding | Melissa + Fernando

Tell us a little about yourselves!

Our love story began in high school - it's been 16 years since we went on our first date as teenagers. We grew up together and chose each other, time and time again. It's been an incredible dream having a soulmate and sharing so many memories together. Fast forward and now we share a beautiful life with two kids.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

The Revery LA spoke to us and it was everything we wanted and more! It was the perfect blank slate for us to be creative and unique in the planning process. We also loved that we could have our ceremony and reception all in one place.

How many guests did you have?

Our wedding was very intimate with only 20 guests present. Just us and our nearest and dearest.

Tell us about your outfits.

I knew I wanted something simple and classic. I instantly fell in love with Savannah Miller silky, champagne 'Wren' gown. My veil was definitely my favorite piece by Ofrenda Studio. It was embroidered with delicate botanical flowers and each flower had a special meaning. My shoes by Sania d'Mina were a dream. They were covered in tiny pearls.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

The small and intimate setting was the most important aspect of planning our wedding. Weddings are so personal and we knew we wanted to be surrounded with our closest loved ones. We were able to have full meaningful conversations with everyone that joined us, be vulnerable, and share heartfelt promises.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

We really wanted our 7-year old son to be included in our ceremony and witness our union. We each wrote a few things we love about our son and our officiant did a beautiful job at bringing our son up to the alter with us and made him feel extra special.

Any tips for couples getting married, particularly during the pandemic?

Flexibility is key. Unexpected things might happen but you have to just go with the flow.

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Esther and Emily from Studio Komorebi really surpassed our expectations. They brought our vision to life and guided us through the planning and design journey seamlessly.

Our photographer Hannah Park captured our day so perfectly! We will forever re-live our wedding day through these photos.
