Real Wedding | Olivia & Robert

Tell us a little about yourselves!

Robert and I met in 2016 and have transformed each other’s lives in ways I never could have imagined. I’m the one who keeps us grounded, while Rob is the dreamer. Together, we’re proud parents to our rescue pups, Moon and Euki. We’re driven by a shared love of adventure, curiosity, and a passion for great food.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

We’re in love with New York City. We’re originally from Northern California, but feel so complete and at home here. The East Coast just felt right. Central Park has always been close to our hearts- there’s a magic that you get wrapped up in any time you visit.

How many guests did you have?

We wanted to keep things intimate, so our guest list was capped at 35 and Kindred captured our day.

What was your budget?

Our original budget was 10k, which we exceeded fairly quickly- as soon as we decided to have a small wedding versus eloping.

Tell us about your outfits.

Rob chose a linen tux to give a modern twist to a classic look. Inspired by Todd Snyder’s use of pragmatic textures suited to the season, the tux was lightweight, breathable, and structured. It maintained a formal aesthetic while perfectly fitting the relaxed, “house party” vibe of our day.

A longtime admirer of Danielle Frankel I had always dreamed of wearing one of her pieces. For a more androgynous look, I chose a silk crepe-back satin handkerchief top with grosgrain edging and covered button detailing along the side. The top featured a button closure at the neck and an optional bustle loop at the corner hem. I paired it with high-waisted, tailored cady pants, accented by ivory grosgrain tuxedo detailing along the side seams. The menswear-inspired pants included pleated fronts, side pockets, and a secure hook-and-eye, snap, and zip closure. I felt confident and comfortable in this ensemble throughout the day.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

The food was the most important aspect for us. We wanted our guests to feel truly taken care of, with each curated dish and leave them feeling completely satisfied.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

My dad passed away in 2021, and I wanted to honor him by keeping his memory close. I displayed my parents' wedding album, and our caterers crafted a special treat of fresh baguette with olive oil infused with regular and fermented garlic-my dad’s absolute favorite.

Any tips for couples getting married?

Enjoy the process and have fun with it. There will be disagreements and hard decisions to make along the way, but it should be a very joyous and memorable time for you to look back at. It’s all about compromise and working together as a couple- a great intro to marriage!

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Our caterers, Abby and Carlos from Create Dinners, brought our culinary dreams to life, telling our love story through dishes that were some of the best we’ve ever tasted. Highlights included the Gatame grilled cheese and smoked pine needle rice, but the crowd favorite was the Hawaiian mochi butter cake with soba tea crunch for dessert—some even called it “the best thing they’d ever tasted.” Safe to say, we’re passionate about good food!
