Real Wedding | Tahlia + Shaun

Tell us a little about yourselves!

Shaun and I met when I reached out to him via Instagram and asked if he wanted to go on a date with me and we have been together ever since. We love spending our time in the sun with our baby - our puppy Ivy or heading off on adventure somewhere. Shaun and I are like ying and yang - he is calm, introverted and easy going and I can be quite loud, outgoing and can be quite manic sometimes! However, we balance each other out perfectly and are the best of friends.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

We changed our wedding venue so many times as none of them seemed perfect to me, until Villa Rica came along. We always knew we wanted a European feel and I wanted it to feel like you were being transported to another country. Being the first wedding at this venue, it felt new and exciting and it was honestly just the most beautiful property.

How many guests did you have?

110. Sebastian Paynter captured our wedding.

What was your budget?

We did not really have a budget. When we first started the wedding planning process, we created a spreadsheet and projected what we thought each different thing would cost and went from there.

Tell us about your outfits.

I studied fashion design and fashion has been my life ever since I could remember, so both my outfits and my bridesmaids were a big deal. I visited Cristina from Couture Love Madness to create my first gown. I had the vision of exactly what I wanted and she helped bring it to life. I absolutely adore my dress. I then got changed into a sheer Jacquemus dress that I could party in. I didn't want a mini dress for my party dress and I felt so chic and cool wearing my dress.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

The most important aspect was, firstly making sure that every little detail of our wedding was completely us and secondly, ensuring our guests had the best time!

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

I wanted it to feel unique in our own way. I wanted the wedding to feel very classic, I had minimal styling, asked all of our guests to wear black and white and let the beauty of our venue shine through.

Any tips for couples getting married?

It’s so easy to get caught up in every tiny little detail. I spent hours and hours and hours on Pinterest and ended up changing my mind 1000 times. Choose your vibe, stick with it and get off Pinterest once the decisions have been made!
