Real Wedding | Teagan & Nathan

Tell us a little about yourselves!

Nathan and I met at our university through a mutual friend - shout out Tygh! We’re lucky enough to have traversed the years after school and into adulthood, and can truly say we are best friends. We currently live in Philadelphia in the US, but love to travel, though that means leaving our ‘child’ at home - our Airedale Terrier, Douglyn.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

I (Teagan) first traveled to France when I was 16 and visited Nice. I immediately fell in love with not only the beautiful historical sites, but also the culture of simplicity in France compared to the "hustle" of the US. Since then, I have returned to visit dozens of times, and Nathan has joined me! For our wedding, the decision of where to get married was stressful, as most of our friends and family live in the tri-state area. But nothing seemed more "us" than having our loved ones in our favorite place and having them experience the culture for themselves!

How many guests did you have?

75 besties!

Tell us about your outfits.

For me, Vivienne Westwood was a no brainer as it was exactly the ethereal look I wanted. I spent a month alone in Paris and walked by the storefront often, contemplating if I should go in. I went by myself and had such a personal moment knowing this was the dress for me without others opinions. From there, I simply channeled my inner child - every girl loves to play dress up! So I had fun looking for unique vintage pieces to complete my other looks from The Vintage Show in New York, where I found Arcade Vintage, and Happy Isles Boutique. The piece from Couper was a total surprise I came across at one of their pop-ups, and I immediately fell in love. I am now a fan for life of their curated collections!

For Nathan, we wanted a classic look with a twist. I am so surprised that the crossover tie is not more popular as I love the simple lines compared to the typical bow tie.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

Having a sounding board is most important, especially someone who can understand your vision, budget, aesthetic and guests’ perspective! I couldn’t have done it without our planner, Sneh at Diwan by Design.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

Surprise and Delight!

We had custom tambourines made with guest names on it! They were a fun surprise and a unique memento for our friends to take home.

We also had a champagne fountain with individual size bottles of Veuve Clicquot for guests to enjoy during cocktail hour!

In terms of scheduling - I wanted to change dresses before the ceremony since Nathan would see me for photos before. I wore a vintage dress from Happy Isles Salon for my First Look before changing into my Vivienne Westwood. It helped give the element of surprise and emotion while having our family photos done. This way, everyone wins!

Any tips for couples getting married?

I know it is cliché, but remember that this is your special day. Focus on the elements that are important to you, and what you will be happy you did when it’s all over!

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

I met Sneh Diwan from Diwan by Design 6 years ago through her husband when living in New York and through her I also met our photographer, Agata from Couplet .There is something so fun having such talented friends with you on your wedding day. It also helped Nathan feel comfortable in front of the camera - he’ll be adding ‘model’ to his resume!
