Tell us a little about yourselves!
What a long, strange trip it’s been. Jesse and I met in elementary school and grew up together in San Luis Obispo, California. After years apart during college (Jesse at UC Berkeley and UCSB for me) we reconnected one night over live music and bad cocktails. We’ve been madly in love for the past eight years and live in LA with our perfect angel cat, Moya. We both work in entertainment - Jesse is a music talent agent and I am a creative executive in film/TV advertising.
Why did you decide to get married where you did?
France has become our special place. In the fall of 2022, Jesse took me on my first trip to Paris where he proposed over a sunset picnic on the Seine River. We had such an incredibly romantic proposal honeymoon and we dreamt of coming back for our wedding day to feel it all over again. After a ton of research and falling head over heels with Provence and our venue, Le Grand Banc, our dream became a tangible reality. Le Grand Banc is truly legendary – picture a secluded hamlet, rich with 1960s bohemian history, hedonistic parties with guests like Princess Margaret (if these walls could talk!), a museum worthy art collection, effortlessly wrapped up in a laid-back South of France vibe. We were awestruck and inspired to throw not just our dream wedding, but a celebration unlike anything our guests had ever experienced.
How many guests did you have?
We had exactly 50 guests – the perfect intimate party amount.
Tell us about your outfits.
The aesthetic inspiration for the weekend was Dangerous Liaisons meets the south of France with a touch of Japanese detail (to honor my heritage). I knew in my bones I would be wearing Vivienne Westwood for a few reasons – her rebellious spirit, the interconnectedness between fashion and music, and Victorian influence. For accessories, I wore mesh opera gloves, pearl choker, pearl earrings from my mother-in-law, and a vintage Japanese kanzashi in the shape of a fan.
I love a costume change, so for the after hours party I wore a Shushu/Tong white minidress with an asymmetrical tutu calling back to my ballet dancer roots, with dance friendly Amina Muaddi heels.
Jesse kept it sleek and rock n’ roll in a black Jacquemus suit, black tank, and Valentino rockstud loafers.
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
It was important that the weekend felt entirely like us. Every detail was handpicked and meaningful. We wanted to curate an experience that celebrated who we are as a couple and an event worthy of flying across the world for.
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
We were so inspired by Le Grand Banc. We wanted to do something out of the box, something surprising, something that embodied the hedonistic and creative parties of the past. We stumbled upon Nepco, performance artists from Amsterdam specializing in surreal and imaginative costume design. Right when the espresso martinis hit, a giant mechanical eyeball, larger than life disco ball, and Leigh Bowery inspired clowns emerged from the forest and onto the dance floor.
Any tips for couples getting married?
Choose to create the experience you want. It’s easy to listen to too many opinions and trends. Try to make decisions based on what tells your story and truly brings you joy.
Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?
We highly recommend everyone we worked with, including our Barbara Markiewicz!
