Wedding | Braelyn & Brian

Tell us a little about yourselves!

Bryan and I met through my sister and her husband after I moved to San Francisco. Bryan has been close friends with my brother-in-law (our wedding officiant!) since they played little league together as kids. We now live together in the Marina district, just a couple blocks away from some of our closest family and friends. We love spending time outdoors - like walking to the beach with our dog, going on hikes around the Bay Area, and heading up to Tahoe for ski trips. We also love food and trying all the amazing restaurants San Francisco has!

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

I grew up in San Luis Obispo, California and Bryan went to college there as well, and our love of SLO is something we bonded over early in our relationship. It's a place that is very special to each of us and we have so many good memories there together, spending long weekends and holidays there with my family. And we were so excited to spend the weekend of our wedding there with all our family and friends and show them why we love it so much.

How many guests did you have?

We had about 80 guests.

Tell us about your outfits.

I didn’t have a super clear vision of what I wanted going into wedding dress shopping, so I tried on (and liked!) a lot of different styles. I ultimately got a set and veil from Cortana Brides. I was familiar with the designer because my sister wore Cortana for her wedding, and I like that they have interesting textures & shapes that felt less traditional. The stylist at WildBride also suggested the veil as a scarf / shawl which made me love the whole look even more and felt very me.

For my second look I wore a purple sequin Siedrés dress. I love purple and the layer of lace underneath made it still feel bridal.

Bryan tried on a few different suits, but went with a tuxedo. He liked how it felt more elevated and special for the occasion!

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

We wanted to maximize the time we got to spend with our closest family and friends (and each other!), so we chose a venue that allowed most of our friends to stay on-site with us! We had the whole weekend together and spent the days leading up to the wedding playing lawn games, making smores, and hanging out by the pool. We also opted to do a sweetheart table at dinner and loved the extra time together it gave us.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

We love love love food, so this was an important aspect of the weekend for us. Having our friends there in the days leading up to the wedding was fun because we got to share some of our favorite local spots. For example, we had our favorite ever sandwiches brought in from High St Deli for the pool day on Friday.

Our caterer Field to Table also customized the menu to include dishes inspired by our travels and our favorite San Francisco restaurants. We had a tuna tostada appetizer inspired by our favorite Mexican restaurant in our neighborhood, a cacio e pepe arancini inspired by our recent trip to Italy, the salad was inspired by the restaurant we went to after we got engaged, we had spicy vodka rigatoni inspired by the SF classic - Original Joe’s, and an empanada and steak with chimichurri inspired by my dad’s Argentine roots. It was so fun to have a menu that was so personal to us!

Any tips for couples getting married?

Do whatever you want! You’re the one that's going to remember all the little details and who was there, so do whatever makes you happy.

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Our florist, Sun Canyon Florals, was a dream to work with! We had so much fun together during the planning process and she created florals that were exactly what I wanted, but also better than I even imagined.

And of course our photographers, Zach & Dune . They so artfully captured all the joy and love we felt on our wedding day. We love how the photos turned out, and are so happy we get to look back at our wedding through their lens in the years to come.

We loved all of our vendors!
