Tell us a little about yourselves!
Matthew lived in a small town in Oklahoma where my extended family were. Growing up I always had a crush on him but since I was four years younger and from out of state, he was oblivious to me. Life took us on different paths until my aunt and his mother exchanged our phone numbers nearly four years ago. I visited him in Oklahoma from Texas and the rest is history! I moved to Oklahoma two and a half months later and we have been together since.
Matthew is soft spoken, works in public health, and loves anything sport. While I am more outspoken, a paediatric nurse practitioner, and a lover of all art. I truly believe that our differences are what brought us together and are the reason we genuinely love the others company.
Why did you decide to get married where you did?
It was important to us that everyone take the time away and enjoy life and where better to celebrate love than in Paris? We wanted a romantic, intimate, venue that was full of Parisian history and the Hotel Particulier is just that. The hotel is also a bit cheeky which fit perfectly with our personalities.
How many guests did you have?
We had 11 guests.
What was your budget?
We wanted to provide an unforgettable experience for our guests, we were conscious of our spending but did not rely on a budget.
Tell us about your outfits.
The gown was Danielle Frankel Studio, the careful detail and beauty of the design gave a vintage impression, perfect for Paris. The tuxedo was a custom Don Morphy, designed with vintage inspiration and detail of our seal and wedding date sewn inside. Because we loved our ceremony outfits so much, we decided to opt out of a change before the dinner.
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
The most important aspect of planning our wedding was finding the perfect photographer to capture our day. We wanted candid photography that displayed the guest’s personalities, intimacy of our wedding, and romance of the venue. We could not have found a more perfect photographer; Paulina Weddings truly captured the beauty of the day. We also wanted to make our guests and those invited feel thought of when planning our wedding. Because we knew that not everyone would be able to travel, we wanted to provide a wedding invitation suite that shared a photograph of our venue and felt like a little piece of the ceremony in Montmartre.
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
We wanted to incorporate local artists and French tradition. We chose a local pianist to play throughout the dinner and an artist that provided portraits to the guests. It was important to us that our guests have a memento to let them know how appreciative we were that they joined us. We also incorporated a croquembouche instead of a traditional wedding cake to keep with French tradition.
Any tips for couples getting married?
Discuss what aspects of the wedding are the most important for each of you. Prioritize those things with both time and finances. Also, this is your day, stay true to yourselves, invest in what matters most.
Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?
Studio Maison Ciero, our florist, created the most beautiful bridal bouquet and royal chrysanthemum vases for our table. I would recommend them to every bride in Paris, they are true artists and wonderful to work with.
