Wedding | Vanessa & Robert

Tell us a little about yourselves!

Robert and I are high school sweethearts who grew up together. Both of us grew up in a small suburban town and Robert had an amazing opportunity to work in NY on Wall Street. Given that we would then become a long distance relationship, I decided to take the leap and move to NY as well. We spent three amazing years living in Long Island City and fell in love with the city but we were missing our family and friends.

We then moved back to California but this time we wanted to live in LA and Robert’s new job needed him to be in Los Angeles for his clientele. I was a licensed cosmetologist so I was able to carry my job back to California. Once we lived in LA for a year, we got the best surprise of our first child Enzo. We continued our lives in Cali and had a second child, Miss Camila Haze, our fiery and sweet little girl.

After being engaged for so many years, our children kept asking why Mommy doesn’t have their same last name and that’s when we decided to get married.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

I’ve always loved the Spanish style of architecture and when Robert and I first started dating he attended SB State College and we loved that town and grew very fond of it and will always have a special place in our hearts. So, we decided to get married at the SB courthouse.

How many guests did you have?

We only had our immediate family and their significant others and kids attend. We wanted it to be very small and intimate. And of course our kids! It was a total of 16 people.

What was your budget?

We didn’t exactly have a budget but we knew we would be saving a lot doing it very small and at the courthouse.

Tell us about your outfits.

My dress was very classic but still had a sexy shape. She was simple but yet so timeless and chic! The dress was very much me!

Robert’s suit was fitted and tailored to him perfectly. He always makes the suit look that much more handsome,  so a classic yet timeless suit was just what he had!

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

The most important thing was for my children to see that even after all these years of us being together, love should always be celebrated. Also, our parents grew up in a very traditional Hispanic families and this was something both parents wanted very much for the both of us.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

The first look was something that I absolutely wanted to have, given our wedding was not traditional. Also, my dad walking me down the aisle was something I also wanted and we didn’t even know if that was possible, given it was a courthouse wedding. But at the last minute we were able to make that happen and my dad was so happy!

Any tips for couples getting married?

There are no rules when it comes to your wedding day! There will always be so many opinions of others but silence them out because at the end of the day you are the ones getting married and not everyone else. We truly did what we wanted as a couple and it was absolute perfection. Not to mention very little to none stress!

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Stay Golden Design  absolutely made it that much more magical. We originally weren’t going to hire a planner but I was so happy I did. I have been working with them for years and they always nail it! They truly helped so much by making it that much more magical and perfect for us! But everyone who was hired was the absolute best to work with! I have worked with all my vendors in the past but it was my first time working with Monique Bianca and she went above and beyond my expectations! The pictures were so classic in the best way possible and so happy she was referred to me!
